Dr Wael AlJaroudi is a Staff Physician in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Assistant Professor of Medicine and Radiology at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC), and Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Program. His particular clinical interest is focused on cardiovascular imaging with echocardiography, cardiac MRI, and nuclear cardiology. He is also in charge of the preventive and cardiac rehabilitation program.
He graduated with the degree of Doctor of Medicine with Distinction in 2002 from AUB and was the recipient of the Penrose and Alpha Omega Alpha awards. He subsequently received the degree Master of Science in Physiology in 2003 from AUBMC, then completed three years of residency training in Internal Medicine (2003-2006) and one year of fellowship in Cardiac MRI at Duke University Medical Center (2006-2007), and three years of fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (2007-2010). He was then appointed as Staff in Cardiovascular Imaging at the Cleveland Clinic (2010-2012) and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University, before moving back to AUBMC in 2013.
He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and is level III trained in Cardiac MRI (certified by the Society of CMR and the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging) and Cardiac Computed Tomography. He is in charge of the cardiac MRI program at AUBMC, is member of the Society of CMR and the Middle East CMR working group. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology and appointed on several committees of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. He is the recipient of the Alpha Omega Alpha and American College of Physician Research Awards, and Distinguished Teaching Award from the Cleveland Clinic. He has published more than 60 papers, and 3 books/book chapters. He has been invited to present his clinical and research at medical symposia conferences nationally, in the USA, Europe, and the Middle East.
