Francesco Paneni, MD, PhD is Assistant Professor at the Center for Molecular Cardiology, University of Zurich, Switzerland.
His main research interest is to study the molecular and cellular processes underpinning vascular and cardiac dysfunction in the context of obesity and diabetes. Key aspects also include the link between environmental factors, metabolic disease and premature cardiovascular aging. Dr. Paneni is also coordinator of clinical research projects concerning the study of left ventricular remodelling and dysfunction in patients with obesity, type 2 diabetes and arterial hypertension.
He received his medical degree, PhD degree as well as board certification in Cardiology from the University of Rome “Sapienza”, Italy. He has previously worked as Clinical and Research Associate at the Mount Sinai Medical Center, NY and Karolinska Institute, Sweden.
Dr. Paneni is Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC), Member of the ESC Credential Committee and Remote Reviewer for the European Research Council (ERC).
Dr. Paneni’s research has been awarded by the European Society of Cardiology and American Heart Association. He is author of more than 60 peer-reviewed original and review articles in top-ranked cardiovascular journals. Moreover, he has been invited to present his research at conferences in Europe, and nationally.
