Professor Shao-Ping Nie, MD is director of the Emergency & Critical Care Center of Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University in Beijing, China. He has also been the deputy director general of the Chinese College of Cardiovascular Physicians, secretary general of the Great Wall International Congress of Cardiology, Associate Editor of Heart Asia (BMJ Journals), director of Editorial Department of Chinese Journal of Cardiovascular Research (Monthly).

He received his bachelor’s and master’s degree in 1988 and 2000 from Wuhan University School of Medicine and doctoral degree in 2003 from Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). He received advanced training in Beijing Fuwai Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the Heart Center of Beijing Red Cross Chaoyang Hospital, the Cardiovascular Center of Kobe General Hospital and the National Cardiovascular Center (NCVC) of Japan.

He has particular interest in the research of regenerative therapy for ischemic heart disease by therapeutic angiogenesis & cell therapy, mechanism of coronary slow flow phenomenon and clinical issues of coronary artery disease and interventional cardiology. Being one of the leading interventional cardiologists in mainland China, he has performed over 8000 cases of coronary intervention. He is first author of a national medical textbook for postgraduates, and has contributed to more than 20 chapters in other textbooks in cardiology. He has published over 150 original and review articles in both Chinese and English peer-reviewed journals and presented posters and accepted abstracts at important international conferences such as ACC, TCT, GW-ICC, TCTAP, etc.
