Milind Desai, MD, is a staff cardiologist at the Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Cleveland Clinic. He is a Professor of Medicine at the Lerner College of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology, cardiac CT and nuclear cardiology. He holds dual appointment in the departments of cardiovascular medicine and radiology.

Dr. Desai's is an expert in multi-modality cardiovascular imaging, having achieved the highest level of proficiency in CMR, Cardiac CT, Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology.

His interests include evaluation and management of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, complex valvular disease, complex CAD, pericardial diseases, aortic diseases and radiation heart disease.

His research interests include the following: noninvasive atherosclerosis imaging using CT and MRI, all aspects of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy research, multimodality imaging and outcomes assessment in ischemic and nonischemic cardiomyopathies, outcomes in radiation and valvular heart disease.

A native of India, Dr. Desai received his medical degree from NHL Medical College, Ahmedabad, India. He did his residency in internal medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He continued his clinical training with a fellowship in nuclear cardiology from Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, a fellowship in general cardiology from Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, a fellowship in general cardiology and cardiovascular imaging from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, and a fellowship in CMR imaging from the NIH.

He has authored or co-authored numerous articles in Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, European heart Journal, Heart, Journal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, American Journal of Cardiology and the American Heart Journal.

He is a member of the ACC, AHA, SCMR, SCCT, ASE and ESC. He has been nominated as FACC, FAHA and FESC by the respective organizations. He is on the board of directors for the certification board of cardiac CT.
