Mohamad Bashir is based at Velindre University NHS Trust and Health Education and Improvement Wales – Vascular & Endovascular Surgery. He holds a Visiting Professorship at the University of South Wales and a Professorship in Cardiovascular Clinical Research at the Institute of Coronary & Advanced Aortic Diseases at SIMS Hospital which is one among the largest and most dedicated Aortic Diseases Management Centre in India. He is also a Clinical Professor of Cardiac Surgery at Shahid Rajaie Cardiovascular, Medical & Research Center in Tehran – Iran.

He graduated from Kaunas University of Medicine, Lithuania in 2000. He completed his general surgical training in 2005 and became a member of both the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2007. He trained in cardiothoracic surgery at various UK centers. He pursued academic and clinical training in aortovascular and cardiothoracic transplantation at Birmingham University Teaching Hospitals with the late Professor Robert S. Bonser and developed an avid interest in aortovascular disease and aortic aneurysm surgery. In 2016 he completed a Ph.D. in Health Economics and Clinical Evaluation in Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm at the University of Liverpool. Professor Bashir has an Advanced Research Scholar Degree from Harvard School of Medicine. He has a track record of over 250 peer-reviewed publications, and book chapters. He lectured numerously on national and international levels. He is the founder and editor of the Aortovascular Portal at the largest cardiovascular media platform – CTSNet. Prof. Bashir serves on the Executive Board of multiple aortic and surgical journals including AORTA Journal, Journal of Cardiac Surgery, and has been Guest Editor on many Special Editions focused on aortovascular medicine and surgery with many eminent and renowned colleagues in this specialty.

Edward P. Chen, MD is the Division Chief for Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Duke University. Prior to this, he spent 17 years on faculty in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Emory University where he served as Professor of Surgery, Director of Thoracic Aortic Surgery Executive Director of the Aortic Center and Section Head of Adult Cardiac Surgery.

He is a graduate of Stanford University, Duke Medical School, University of California San Francisco General Surgery, Emory Cardiothoracic Residency and the UT Houston Aortic Surgery Fellowship. He is internationally visible for his clinical expertise in reoperative thoracic aortic procedures, high-risk and complex adult cardiac surgery.

He has published 200 peer-review articles and his research has focused cerebral protection for aortic arch reconstruction, aortic root operations and valve-sparing aortic root replacement. He has been a PI and co-PI on numerous clinical trials focused on thoracic aortic surgery and structural heart disease.

A. Mohammed Idhrees is an outstanding cardiac surgeon having more than 15 years of clinical practice. He is presently working as a Senior Consultant at SIMS Hospital, Chennai, India. He is an alumnus of Madurai Medical College from where he completed his general surgery training. He undertook his cardiac surgery training in the prestigious Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology, Trivandrum (Institution of National Importance established by an Act of Parliament in 1980).

His expertise in cardiac surgery includes coronary artery bypass grafting and heart valve replacements / repair. His special interest lies in the field of Aortic surgery. Dr. Mohammed Idhrees is now author of over 100 PubMed listed peer-reviewed manuscripts, authored 3 chapters on different topics in Aortic surgery. He is involved in describing 4 new innovative surgical techniques and 1 new embryology in the field of cardiac surgery. Apart from being part of the Editorial board in multiple journals, he is serving as an active reviewer for over a dozen of reputed journals. He has an outstanding academic career and gathered many awards in his career in the field of medicine as well as extra-academic activities. He was awarded the “Outstanding Young clinician Cardiovascular Thoracic surgery” in 2021. He has been awarded the ‘Best Reviewer’ by the Indian Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery in 2022. Further, he has received Dr. T. Dorairajan Gold Medal in 2012, Dr. Sundaram Best Paper award in 2011 and the Best Paper at Science Feast in 2014. Dr. Idhrees has been an invited faculty in various national and international conferences.
