Focused Issue on Heart Valve Disease

This focused issue on “Heart Valve Disease” is edited by Dr. Deborah Kwon and Dr. Bo Xu from Heart and Vascular Institute, Cleveland Clinic, USA and Dr. Rhonda Miyasaka from Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA.

Deborah Kwon, MD, is Director of Cardiac MRI and a staff cardiologist in the Section of Cardiovascular Imaging in the Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine of the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute. Her clinical interests include cardiac MRI and CT, ischemic and non-ischemic cardiomyopathy, heart valve disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, pericardial disease and women and heart disease. She is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. She holds dual appointments in the departments of cardiovascular medicine and radiology. Dr. Kwon is an expert in multimodality cardiovascular imaging, having achieved the highest level of proficiency in all imaging modalities, including cardiac MRI, cardiac CT, echocardiography. She is also the Director of Cardiac MRI Research and serves as the Core Lab director for NIH as well as industry sponsored trials.

Dr. Bo Xu is a staff cardiologist in the Section of Cardiovascular Imaging in the Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute at Cleveland Clinic. He has received the highest levels of training in multimodality cardiovascular imaging, including echocardiography, cardiac computed tomography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. Dr. Xu has authored numerous research articles and research abstracts in peer-reviewed medical and cardiology journals. He has also co-authored book chapters for cardiology textbooks. Dr. Xu has presented his research findings at major national and international cardiology meetings, including the annual scientific sessions of the American College of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology, and American Society of Echocardiography.

Dr. Rhonda Miyasaka is a Cardiovascular Disease (cardiology) Specialist in Aurora, Colorado. She graduated with honors from University of Michigan Medical School in 2006. Having more than 13 years of diverse experiences, especially in CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE (CARDIOLOGY), INFECTIOUS DISEASE, Dr. Miyasaka affiliates with Cleveland Clinic, cooperates with many other doctors and specialists in medical group The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
